Class II - vertical maxillary excess, mandibular deficiency, lip incompetence

Here is an example of a female with a Class II malocclusion, vertical maxillary excess, and a mandibular deficiency. Her treatment plan included a Lefort I, a BSSO and genioplasty. This patient also has a slightly shorter upper lip like me. I will be having these same procedures in less than two weeks.

doesn't she look wonderful? Like herself, only better. :)

Wow, you're really doing your research. Good for you! I too will be having a Leforte I Osteotomy, Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy and Chin Osteotomy. I'm hoping for a change (that people can't put their finger on). I dread that the changes would be obvious to others. I hope they just think I always looked great.

Hi Katherine,
I am happy with my results for the most part. I had a little recession after healing so my overbite is about 1mm and should be corrected with some final tweeking from the OD. The drill bit is another story. Don't worry about surgery...in the grand scheme of things it goes by so fast...just like parenting!

Hi Katherine,

you very beautiful. thank you for posting you story about Osteotomy.

I just have the same problem the Class II malocclusion do to sucking habits during 14 years in childhood.

Now I am 27, living in Russia. I move forward my lower jaw all the time. They say that I am beautiful and really don't understand my problem.

I just tired to live and all the time keep in mind that I have control the jaw. I start to think about Osteotomy. My previous surgeon said that he don't think that I need it, because everything is normal.
But if I will not move forward my lower jaw I even couldn’t close my lips and my speech started to be ambiguous. Everybody think I’m pretty but indeed I just not pretty )

On the basis of your Osteotomy experience, do you think it’s the only way? Maybe living with mowing forward the lower jaw is also acceptable and better than Osteotomy?
Have you heard about Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance?

Regards,
Oxana
